What is Small Business Week?

BDC Small Business WeekTM is an annual celebration of entrepreneurship that the Business Development Bank of Canada has been organising for 35 years. Each year, around 10,000 business people come together at events across Canada to learn, network and socialize. Conferences, seminars, information sessions, luncheons and trade fairs take place across Canada.

Presented by: Dr. Walter Staples

The workshops are ideal for business owners and managers as well as not-for- profits. Dr. Staples will discuss business management styles

that engage and involve employees, improve their productivity and performance, and help instill a culture of “customer-centricity” in an organization. 

Dr. Staples’ interactive workshop will deal with important topics such as managing different age generations from Baby Boomers to Millennials, investing in employee development, managerial styles and best practices, employee responsibility, and how to focus an organization on the customer. He will also help organization managers and owners understand how to build strong, meaningful relationships with employees. These relationships are the critical link that ties together employee engagement, customer focus, and business results.

Learn about your rights as an employer/employee. Understand the major areas covered by the Employment Standards Act. Understand tools/ressources to help you learn more about the ESA.

Presented by: Laura Imhoff, ICT Project Coordinator at NEOnet

FedNor is about to release a new BEAM program. This information session will inform guests on what the program is about, who can apply, how to apply and what will be the new components for this round.  “The Broadband for E-business and Marketing Program (BEAM) helps alleviate some of the associated costs of establishing your business online or for the costs associated with implementing or upgrading E-business applications”.
